Five people were killed and eight others, including children, were injured in a collision on the M-4 Motorway near Sahianwala Interchange in Faisalabad on Sunday, according to reports by Dawn and The Express Tribune.
The crash involved a car and a coaster carrying wedding guests. Rescue 1122 teams gave first aid at the scene and shifted the injured and the bodies of the deceased to Allied Hospital-I in Faisalabad, the reports said. Police reached the spot and began legal formalities.
Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh visited the injured patients at Allied Hospital-I on Sunday, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported via UrduPoint. He inquired about their health, reviewed the medical facilities being provided, and directed doctors and the hospital administration to ensure the best possible treatment for all patients, particularly the injured children.
The commissioner expressed grief over the loss of life and sympathy with the bereaved families, and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured, the report added.
Early reports differed on the initial casualty count, but the later reports published on 26 October put the toll at five killed and eight injured. The exact sequence of the collision is still described differently in early accounts, and this report therefore does not present any single disputed detail of the crash mechanism as settled fact.
Road safety on busy inter-city routes remains a recurring concern in Punjab. In Faisalabad itself, the district administration has also faced scrutiny over the conduct of officials, as reported in Nishandahi Media’s earlier account of the Faisalabad RPO dismissing a sub-inspector for illegally detaining a rickshaw driver for seven days.
