Faisalabad Seals Three Illegal Fireworks Sites and Destroys Inflammable Material in Residential Areas

Faisalabad illegal fireworks crackdown

Faisalabad’s Civil Defence Department has sealed three illegal fireworks manufacturing and trading sites in residential areas of the city and destroyed inflammable material recovered from them on the spot, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported via UrduPoint.

The operation was carried out on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddique, under the supervision of Civil Defence Officer Javed Akhtar Khichi, at Mai Mastani Road, Chak No. 229-RB and Makkoana in Faisalabad, the report said.

An enforcement team led by Chief Instructor Civil Defence Muhammad Altaf found people allegedly involved in the unauthorised sale of fireworks and the preparation of inflammable materials at the three locations without the required legal licences, according to the report.

All three premises were sealed, and the recovered inflammable material was destroyed on the spot to remove the immediate safety risk. A case was registered against one of the owners at Saddar Police Station under Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, for the alleged violations.

Officials warned that illegal preparation of inflammable materials in residential localities could trigger a major accident at any time, resulting in loss of life and substantial damage to property. Dawn’s Faisalabad round-up on 26 October also recorded the operation, noting that three factories were sealed and flammable material was destroyed on the spot.

Punjab authorities have stepped up similar crackdowns on hazardous illegal trades before, including the destruction of more than 100,000 seized kites in Lahore as part of a crackdown on illegal kite flying, as reported earlier by Nishandahi Media.

The department has not named the owner facing the case in the reports reviewed, and this report does not name any individual beyond the officials who led the operation.
